MELDRETH MANOR BIKE SHOW
the show has come along way from it’s humble beginnings in a pub car park
see here for details of the 2007 show
The first show was held on 18th June 1986 in the car park of a local public house, with fourteen bikes on display. The following year the display extended to 19 bikes.
Included in the line-up during those early years we had a side-car outfit owned by local man Phil Croft, who still competes and suppots our show, a brace of Yamaha race bikes loaned by Steve Parrish , a 1923 Scott outfit and 1936 Velocette raced by the late Ossie Neal.
In 1988 we were already starting to outgrow our venue and were allowed the use of the Meldreth Manor Riding school. We collected entrance money and donated the £100 to Meldreth Manor School. Since then we have held the show there every June and have seen the attendance grow year on year. Last year all over 2000 motorcycle enthusiasts attended the show helping contribute £6000 to charity.
We now have trade stands both inside the riding school and outside ,these are booked from year to year by the same traders some of whom have supported us from the very beginning .
Since 1988 we have donated over £40,000 to Meldreth Manor School and the Riding School for the disabled .We have also donated over £1000 to MAGPAS (Mid Anglia General Practioner Acccident Services) plus £2700 to Air Ambulance
Meldreth Manor is a school specialising in catering for children with cerebral palsy.
We are proud to be supporting both Scope at Meldreth Manor and East Anglian Air Ambulance in their vital work.
